Harish Amilineni the share of Yandex in the search market grew for the III quarter of 2017

Yandex announced its financial results for the III quarter of 2017 and disclosed several reasons for the growth of its share in the search market. It reached 55.5% in September 2017 and, in addition, it increased to 43.9% on Android devices.

Among other indicators, the company has identified several of its achievements in the search field for the above period:

● In the third quarter of 2017, the company’s share in the Russian search market (including search on mobile devices) averaged 54.9%, compared to 54.3% for the second quarter of 2017, and reached 55.5% in September 2017 .

● Yandex’s search share on Android devices in Russia was 41.2% in the third quarter of 2017, 38.2% in the second quarter of 2017, and an average of 43.9% in October 2017.

● The number of search requests in Russia increased by 7% compared to the third quarter of 2016.

During the teleconference dedicated to the quarterly report, Yandex Technology Director Mikhail Parakhin told the audience in detail about the new version of the search platform “Korolev”, which was launched in August 2017:

“Korolev” is our new search algorithm, which works on neural networks, compares the meaning of queries with the content of web pages and learns on the search behavior of users. General Director of the company Alexander Shulgin discussed the growth of the share of Yandex on devices with Android:

” Our search share on Android was 42.9% in September this year. First of all, this is due to the appearance in the Chrome browser of the screen for selecting the default search engine . ”

During the teleconference, private optimizers and viewers also learned about new Yandex developments in the field of advertising, including the Polygon tool in Yandex.Auditoria service. Thanks to it advertisers can create geo-segments by selecting a territory of a certain radius in Yandex.Maps, and also to add additional headers to their ads in order to increase their CTR (up to 5% on the desktop and up to 10% on mobile).
